Black trail riding clubs are the backbone of the culture. They organize the rides, preserve the history, and welcome new riders into the tradition. BlackTrailRides.com maintains a directory of historic and active clubs across Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina.

From the Prairie View Trail Ride Association — the oldest Black trail ride in the nation, founded in 1957 — to today's newest crews, these are the organizations keeping the culture rolling.

  • Prairie View Trail Ride Association (PVTRA) — The oldest Black trail ride in the nation, founded in 1957 in Prairie View, TX. Nicknamed 'Mother of Black Trails' and 2025 Division 1 Best Trail Ride.
  • Southwestern Trail Ride Association — Houston, TX trail riding club founded 1981 by Rosetta Gray, expanding Black trail riding across southwest Houston and Brazoria County.
  • Northeastern Trail Riders Association — Houston, TX trail riding organization founded 1982 to preserve African American western heritage.
  • Non-Stop Riderz — Houston, TX trail riding club founded 2016 with ~115 members, hosts annual campout in Shepherd, TX.
  • True Western Trail Riders — Brookshire, TX club, the first new trail ride association to join RodeoHouston in over 20 years (joined 2026).
  • No Limit Riders — Mamou, LA — organizers of the iconic Mamou Mardi Gras Trailride & Chicken Run in Evangeline Parish.
  • Wise Guys Riding Club — Lafayette, LA — hosts 'The Shakedown' annual multi-day campout and trail ride.
  • Magnificent 7 Riding Club — Opelousas, LA — annual hosts of the Magnificent 7 Trailride & Chicken Run in Creole country.
  • Lebeau Posse — Lebeau, LA — organizers of the annual October Lebeau Posse Trailride benefiting Immaculate Conception Church.
  • Crescent City Cowboys — New Orleans, LA Black trail riding club active on the Louisiana circuit.
  • Country Riderz — Established Louisiana Black trail riding club active on the state circuit.
  • Apache Riding Club — Louisiana historic Black trail riding club formed in the mid-1960s.
  • Rough Riders — Shreveport, LA trail riding club representing North Louisiana.
  • Outlawz of DeSoto Parish — DeSoto Parish, LA trail riding club active in rural North Louisiana.
  • Ride or Die Riders — Louisiana trail riding club active on the state circuit.
  • Bayou Boyz Riding Club — Louisiana trail riding club active on the state event circuit.
  • Ebony Horsemen — Atlanta, GA premier Black equestrian organization, hosts annual multi-day August trail ride.
  • Cowboys & Creatives — Atlanta Metro, GA — organizers of the Cowboys & Creatives Trail Ride & Bonfire (2,000+ attendees in 2025).
  • Southeastern Platinum Riderz — Georgia trail riding club, hosts the No Sleep Weekend Trail Ride & Campout.
  • Bama Backwoods — Harvest, AL — organizers of North Alabama's biggest trail ride event (5,000+ riders Labor Day 2025).
  • Black Cowboy Coalition — Rembert, SC — organizers of the 29-year Annual Black Cowboy Festival at Greenfield Farm.
  • North Mississippi Trail Riders — Holly Springs, MS — organizers of the annual North Mississippi Trailride at Davis Park.
  • Mississippi Music Food & Trailride Festival — Wiggins, MS — organizers of one of Mississippi's largest annual trail ride festivals at Stone County Fairgrounds.
